My name is Darren Yu, and I am from Los Angeles, California. I am a third-year student at the University of California, San Diego, studying Computer Science. I am currently seeking out summer internships and co-op opportunities. To contact me, press the email icon on my navigation bar to retrieve my email. I plan to pursue a career in the development of artificial intelligence software. After graduating, I plan on working before returning for a Master's at UCSD. I would also love to travel more after graduation. Spain, France, and Japan are the top three countries I want to visit the most. I speak English, Cantonese, y estoy aprendiendo español. Some of my hobbies are cooking, exercising, hiking, and playing chess. My favorite type of cuisine is Asian cuisine, and my favorite dish is sushi. I enjoy hiking because it frees my mind from school and work. I am not the best at chess, but I am open to playing a friendly game anytime.

The first programming language I learned was JavaScript/HTML5/CSS3 in high school. I then learned Python3 and Java during my first year of college. During my second year of college, I studied C and C++. Recently, I learned functional programming in Haskell. Out of these languages, my primary programming language is Java. I know how to use most of the frameworks and data structures in java.util. I can build interactive JFrames, debug with JDB, and create test cases with JUnit. For JavaScript, I know how to use Puppeteer for unit testing and back-end development with Node.js. Some Python libraries I know how to use are NumPy, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, and Pandas. With C and C++, these languages have taught me the importance of memory management, the usefulness of pointers, and computer architecture. I have some project experience with scripting in Powershell, and I have some knowledge of basic Linux commands with WSL.
